An email we intercepted. A text message that said, “It’s over.” A website link that contained pornographic images.
And suddenly … everything changed.
Our country experienced radical, sudden changes on September 11th, 2001. One moment people were rushing to work, looking up at a cloudless sky. The next instant, towers were crumbling to the ground.
Lives were taken. Families disrupted. And some of those affected became single moms.
None of us knows from one moment to the next how our lives will change. That doesn’t mean we should wallow in fear or dread. It means we should enjoy all the good moments and live fully with abundant joy.
But it also means that when those changes come, no matter what they are, we can turn to the only One who never changes.
His love for us and his faithfulness never leaves us throughout all the changes of life.
No matter what happens, He is the same – loving us, taking care of us, guiding us in the best possible direction for our lives.
When those changes come, stay in hope. Focus on the words of the Psalmist, “Hope in God for I will yet praise him” (Psalm 43:5).
When the shock of the changes finally pass and you begin again to live life with a new normal, hope in God.
When you move through the stages of grief, then revisit them – hope in God.
When you feel alone and uncertain how to proceed – hope in God.
And if you need a listening ear while you’re hoping, let me know. RebeccaT@GWHope.org
