In the first months following my divorce, I immersed myself in Isaiah 54. It helped me so much, I journaled and continued to meditate on this chapter for the next couple of years. In fact, I practically memorized the entire chapter.Bible and cross

So much depth and richness! So much hope for a woman Starting Over Single.

Let’s look at some of the beautiful nuggets:

“More are the children of the desolate woman than of her who has a husband.” Verse 1

Maybe you think your ministry has ended because you’re now Starting Over Single. That’s simply not true. You can still have an influence and a ministry, and God will show you how that works.

Because of my divorce, I am able to coach women who are Starting Over Single. I am able to understand what they’re going through, empathize with them and help them reach for realistic goals.

My ministry has been expanded because of my SOS experience. Yours can, too.

“Do not be afraid; you will not be put to shame. Do not fear disgrace; you will not be humiliated. You will forget the shame of your youth and remember no more the reproach of your widowhood.” Verse 4

Although some people may try to condemn you because of the divorce, you do NOT have to live in that blame and shame.

God knows all the details and he will NEVER disgrace you. A day will come when you will no longer feel or sense any reproach. You’ll be stronger, and you’ll know who you are in Christ.

“For your maker is your husband – the Lord Almighty is his name.” Verse 5

This verse has comforted me more than any other. When I struggle, I remind God that he is my heavenly husband. When I need something, I pray that my husband God will provide it. I tell him every need and cherish our relationship because he is now my husband.

“The Lord will call you back as if you were a wife deserted and distressed in spirit – a wife who married young, only to be rejected.” Verse 6

You may have been abandoned and deserted. You probably have felt rejected, but God will NOT allow you to stay in that place of dejection. He will call you back as a much-loved daughter, as a princess in his kingdom, as the one he loves with an everlasting love.

My suggestion for you today is to read Isaiah 54. Revel in it. Underline the verses that speak to you. Then let me know in the comments how God has blessed you today.
